Happy Saturday, friends! We are so excited to finally share our story with you! The main objective for our clients was an updated kitchen and family room while adding a laundry room to the home. Here are a few before photos so you get where we were coming from. The home has amazing wood floors and charming Spanish architecture throughout so we knew with our remodel we wanted to keep with that but make everything more functional. Ok so here is what we walked into a year ago…
A cupboard kitchen that was super closed off and totally dysfunctional for a family of four. Erin (check out her blog here) has two adorable little girls and knew she needed a space her family could grow into. She had an awesome vision.
We knocked down a kitchen wall, opening up the kitchen to the family room which in turn gave us this amazing island and breakfast nook. The laundry room was added and the bathroom was moved (photos coming soon). We added these amazing reclaimed wood beams to connect the spaces, updated the fireplace and brought the wood floors throughout the space. We filled in the family room (notice the step up in the photo above) and really focused on making this a usable space. We knew bold lighting was a must and the gold fixtures and gold hardware really add the wow-factor. Now I am just wondering when I can move in!
One of my favorite parts of the kitchen is the table and chairs! I have a serious obsession with the white table top and dark wooden legs of the table and the shape of these chairs. And then the chandelier knocks it out of the park, if I can say so myself ;)
For the family room, we added one of our favorite dark quartz materials to the base of the fireplace and made it more of a statement in the room. Our goal was beautiful simplicity which I think we accomplished with the straight line pieces we chose and the overall neutral feeling of the room.
